London, 1 June 2025
Martin Newbold, author of The Stealing of Emily series and director of Hastings Badger Protection Ltd, has issued a stark warning over the growing scandal involving lost Child Trust Funds (CTFs) and the alleged systemic failure by financial institutions, government departments, and oversight bodies to investigate or disclose key information.

In a legal case filed under Claim No: 640MC413 against Nationwide Building Society, Mr. Newbold alleges that financial institutions have deliberately obstructed disclosure of data related to a significant trust fund, potentially involving 430,000 vulnerable children and young people. He references UK government figures and reports by the NSPCC and BBC, stating that millions in unclaimed CTFs remain hidden from their rightful beneficiaries.

“If the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, with all the power and resources of the state, cannot locate my daughter, then how can I?”
Martin Newbold, author of The Stealing of Emily

Newbold’s case extends beyond financial mismanagement, touching on international child protection, with references to a missing daughter, Emily Newbold-Smith, whose circumstances he compares to that of Madeleine McCann. Emily disappeared from social media in 2016 amid a backdrop of coercion and secretive family court decisions—issues Mr. Newbold has detailed in his published works.

In his latest filings and correspondence, Mr. Newbold calls for:

  • Full financial disclosure of account data related to the combined CTF fund;
  • Judicial scrutiny of attempts to remove his case from open court using an N244 Application;
  • Accountability from the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Cabinet Office, ICO, LGSO, and PHSO;
  • Access to audio evidence held by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) in Victoria, Australia;
  • Enforcement of data protection rights under UK GDPR and Articles 5, 6, 12, and 17 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation.

This matter has now been referred internationally, with complaints logged with:

  • IBAC & OVIC (Victoria, Australia)
  • Serious Fraud Office (UK)
  • Information Commissioner’s Office (UK)
  • United Nations Human Rights Office
  • Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland

Mr. Newbold’s investigation suggests that these lost funds are not isolated incidents but part of a systemic failure that may affect more than half a million families across the UK. The legal, ethical, and safeguarding implications, he argues, demand immediate public, media, and parliamentary attention.
