Dear Action Fraud,
28th 05 2025
CC: Eversheds
I’m following up on the requirement for information to initiate your investigation into the missing 430,000 Child Trust Fund payment intended for vulnerable children.
I respectfully draw the courtโs attention to the following evidence:
- BBC Article โ The Impact of Child Trust Funds
ย https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cjr82gejlxno - BBC Article โ Child Trust Fund Crisis
ย https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ckg7j83drd5o - Martin Lewisโs Awareness Campaign on Child Trust Funds
ย https://blog.moneysavingexpert.com/2023/07/martin-lewis–my-letter-to-the-children-s-minister-on-easier-acc/ - UK Governmentโs Official Statement Urging 430,000 Young People to Claim Their Cash
ย https://www.gov.uk/government/news/almost-430000-young-people-urged-to-claim-their-cash
To reiterate the distinctions based on the sources:
- The figure of “half a million children” refers to those suffering abuse or neglect annually in the UK, as reported by the NSPCC.
- The figure of “430,000 young people” refers to those who have unclaimed Child Trust Funds, according to the UK Government.
During my conversation with the Financial Ombudsman, I was informed that Louise is now handling this case and is the best point of contact. This is despite the case having been previously assigned to Taylor (please see the attached document), who had already begun investigating. I communicated to Louise’s team that Action Fraud needs specific details, particularly the current location of these funds, to proceed with their investigation.
I also assured her that the Honourable Judge overseeing case 640MC413 will require precise information regarding the fund’s whereabouts.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Martin Newbold
