On the 29th October 2024, I officially served 100 papers on the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), resulting in an email request #4867 being successfully submitted to the Court at 21:34 (Strasbourg local time).
This submission process began with creating an account on echr.coe.int. Although it initially seemed like a standard registration, a screen appeared requesting a code from an authenticator app. This was unexpected, but I searched on Google Play and found Google Authenticator. Running this on my Android mobile device, I was able to scan a QR code provided on the ECHR site, which generated a six-digit code specific to my ECHR account. After entering the code, I successfully logged in.
Once logged in, I saw three main options, including one labelled “New Case.” Selecting this option, I followed the steps and answered each question until reaching a section for uploading evidence. I compiled my documents into a primary file labelled “APPLICATION” and uploaded it first to begin the submission.
At this point, I’m unsure of what to expect next. Based on ECHR procedures, the Court typically reviews the application to determine its admissibility. This could involve an initial review to ensure that the documents meet submission requirements and that the case aligns with ECHR criteria. It’s likely I will receive either a confirmation or further instructions, possibly asking for additional information or clarification on specific points within the application.
I anticipate it may take several weeks or even months for a formal response, as the ECHR often manages a high volume of cases. In the meantime, I’ll be closely monitoring my account for updates and any notifications.

This marked a significant step in my case and may provide some guidance for others undertaking a similar process.
Step 1: Creating an ECHR Account
To begin, I navigated to echr.coe.int to create an account. Unlike a typical registration process, the ECHR account setup requires additional security verification. After entering basic details, I encountered a screen requesting a verification code from an “authenticator app.”
How to Use an Authenticator App:
- Download an Authenticator App: I chose Google Authenticator, available for free on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
- Scanning the QR Code: Once installed, I opened the app on my mobile phone and used the option to “Scan a QR code.” The ECHR website provided this code, which I scanned.
- Obtaining the Code: The authenticator app immediately generated a six-digit code unique to my ECHR account. Entering this code on the ECHR website completed my registration and login setup.
This step might be new to some, but it’s essential for account security and is increasingly common with high-security sites.
Step 2: Navigating the ECHR Portal
Upon logging in, I found three main options, one of which was “New Case”. Clicking this option began the application process, where I was prompted with a series of questions to define the nature of my case. The questions were structured to gather detailed background information, including personal details, relevant case history, and the specific grounds of the complaint.
Tips for Completing the Initial Application:
- Be Thorough: I recommend providing as much relevant information as possible. Each answer should support the case clearly and concisely.
- Organize Documents: Ensure that you have all necessary evidence and documents ready. In my case, I uploaded my primary file as “APPLICATION” and structured supporting documents in a logical order for ease of reference.
Step 3: Uploading Documents
The ECHR system allows applicants to upload multiple files as supporting evidence. For a comprehensive application, I uploaded a full set of 100 correspondence documents, including court papers, correspondence, and additional materials pertinent to my case.
Tips for Document Submission:
- Label Files Clearly: Descriptive file names (e.g., “APPLICATION,” “COURT_DOCUMENT_1,” “EMAIL_CORRESPONDENCE”) make it easier for reviewers to identify key documents.
- Check File Size and Format: Ensure that files meet any size or format restrictions on the ECHR website. It may be useful to compress or consolidate files if they’re too large.
Step 4: Confirmation and Next Steps
After submission, I received an email confirmation with a unique request number (#4867). This number is crucial for tracking my case and any future correspondence with the Court.
What to Expect After Submission:
- Initial Review: The ECHR will review submitted documents to assess whether the application meets the required criteria and admissibility standards. This may take several weeks or months, given the high volume of cases.
- Possible Follow-Up Requests: If additional information or clarification is needed, the Court may contact applicants via email or the ECHR portal.
- Patience and Monitoring: Regularly check your ECHR account and email for updates. Given the procedural length, it’s essential to remain patient and be prepared for a potentially prolonged process.
Advice for Future Applicants
If you’re planning to submit an application to the ECHR, here are some pointers that may be helpful:
- Prepare Thoroughly: Gather all documents, evidence, and background information beforehand. A well-organized, detailed submission strengthens the case.
- Understand Admissibility Criteria: Familiarize yourself with ECHR requirements and ensure that your case meets their criteria, such as the exhaustion of all domestic legal remedies.
- Be Patient: The ECHR process is known to be lengthy, so prepare for a wait. It’s a highly formal procedure that often involves thorough reviews and multiple stages.
- Seek Legal Advice if Possible: Legal experts or human rights advocates familiar with ECHR processes can offer invaluable assistance and help address complex legal nuances.
By sharing my experience, I hope to shed light on the ECHR application process for others pursuing justice through this institution having spent years getting nowhere.

Everyone is asking on twitter: “Can I sue a Judge?”
Yes, you can in very slim circumstances If a judge creates a court order based on that fraudulent affidavit, the judge has also committed a felony. Anyone attempting to enforce an illegal court order is, in effect, committing an act of violence against you.
What is an affidavit: a written statement confirmed by oath or affirmation, for use as evidence in court.
