The actual experience of curating this survey with TakenUK and promoting it across a great many groups (with a lot of contacts) has really shown how the “culture of gagging parents” has made some feel very afraid of any type of disclosure. “Culture” needs examining as something which is not always justified by law but rather by “belief” and social pressure placed on people unfairly. Social Workers also work under that cultural modus operandi and not necessarily strictly to actual law .

We believe that “culture” has kept the survey slower and also harder to accomplish bigger numbers quicker with, precisely because people contacting me anonymously have said as much about fears being driven in them and certainly by Social Workers/Contact center’s which won’t even allow families to photograph their own kids – and by Family Courts over-pushing fear of disclosures even anonymously about parent’s experiences ..This is not “stated” so much as implied and it’s not made clear how parents can report on their family fates.
They are NOT helped enough. There’s certainly a gross lack of impact assessments on parents as a rule by all parties concerned, from what I have seen in the survey. Of course, the law pins down what’s allowed regarding the privacy of the child over details which may tend to identify them but the “culture” that’s produced from that is far more insidious and wrong.
It is a “CULTURE” created by dint of poor transparency and practices to suppress families from showing the rest of the public what is happening on often poor proof levels of “risk” “Culture of gagging parents” thus really needs examining far more since the law does not prohibit parents discussing their cases in abstract and also naming Courts and public officials with “fair comment”.
Even the media have kept away from Family Courts because the suppressing culture has seeped into media … Nonetheless through groups that are guarding themselves online I have managed to get more respondents but frankly it’s incredibly sad to do this in a democratically “free” country without freedom for some to show up their pain and the way the system has treated them.
This is NOT a funded or sponsored initiative. It is driven by a community of Parents and Children affected by “Forced Adoption” and/or Child Care Order practices in the UK.
Those aiding the design of this survey have been affiliated to bodies dealing with court crisis matters. You will find many such groups of lay people on Twitter/Facebook , if you look up “court crisis”.
Help and advice has been given by : https://www.takenuk.com.
“Adoptee Watch” a small org. has also been the driving force to aid the survey into existence: see : https://twitter.com/Paul_B_Tovey
After results are collected, this survey will be for community use by any members of the public. It will be designated for use too as: “Creative Commons” after it is checked out and made public.
Adoptee Watch aim to take this surveyed body of experiences to MP’s, Media and others, as reports and requests for a new Inclusive UK Forced Adoption Public Inquiry for 2002–2024. We want reform of policies to prevent the State violating family lives, and to re-empower protective parents forced to give up children.
It is quite clear to us all, there also needs to be a wider “Care Order Public Inquiry” for abuses to be exposed of systems and bodies involved.
